The Bible - God's holy, infallible Word - is the ultimate authority for every aspect of life. At VCS, our students learn to compare every idea, philosophy and behavior with the truths of the Bible. Students develop the habit of asking, "What does God say?" and practice making choices accordingly. Our school board, faculty and staff seek to model total reliance upon God's Word.
"All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work..." 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NRSV VCS understands that God has given parents the primary responsibility of training their children. VCS collaborates with parents, the extended family and churches to assist parents in their role. We communicate regularly with parents to help provide the education and experiences that will help each child thrive.
"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise" Deuteronomy 6:4-7 ESV We realize that intellectual knowledge is not enough to prepare students to make wise choices and to affect the world for Christ. Therefore, VCS emphasizes practical application of both academic and spiritual principles. Academic lessons include hands-on opportunities and real-life connections. We link Bible lessons and biblical perspectives with actual ministry. Our students regularly participate in ministry projects that help them not only to hear God's Word, but also to put it into practice.
"I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete" Luke 6:47-49 NIV "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says" James 1:22 NIV |
